1967 Bus / Westfalia Camper -

This is a picture taken last summer
of our 1967 Westfalia with of our period plaid Poloron picnic gear on board.
Purchased in the fall of 1991, a total mechanical, interior, and repainting
overhaul, finally saw it hit the road during the summer of 1997. This bus
was featured in the NEATO newsletter in the "This Old Bus" column that
I wrote during the '90s covering it's complete restoration. Added accessories
are the side step, front steps, VW Australia headlight guards, door handle
guards, safari's, SW/MW/LW Emden radio, Euro tail lights, mudflaps, roof
rack ladder, gearshift extension and map reading light. It is currently
powered by a 1600cc dualport, with ported heads, mild camshaft, Oberg filter,
and dual quiet pak mufflers. Every summer it covers 4 - 5,000 miles just
being driven and, of course, the required camping outings. Future plans
call for a freeway flyer transmission and an ambulance fan set-up.
